Puppies 4 to 8 months old
Puppies who are at least four months old (with all their shots) are eligible for the Puppy Board and Train program.
Prior to 16 weeks, I strongly recommend "The Art of Raising a Puppy" by the Monks of New Skete This book is an excellent resource for the first weeks that your puppy is home. Your training focus during this time is less about teaching obedience commands and more about socializing him to the typical sights, sounds, and smells of his world with you and introducing subtle boundaries in his daily life that will prove invaluable towards his maturing into a balanced dog. Puppy training classes are also a good investment during this time period to support good socialization.
Puppy Foundation Board and Train, $2,400, 3 weeks
Go ahead, thoroughly enjoy those first two months with your new puppy; it really is heaven on earth. But after that, I am sure you'll be more than happy to have him go away for a few weeks and come back knowing how to do everything you want and nothing you don't! There's no better way to set your puppy up to be a seamless addition to your household. With manners and knowing how to be calm when it's time to be, not to mention off-leash recall, you'll be able to confidently take him with you anywhere and everywhere.
The reduced puppy rate is available to puppies 8 months and under who do not have any behavioral issues such as aggression or leash reactivity. (This does not include typical puppy issues of mouthing or nipping which are common in most dogs in the 4-6 month age range.) However, older puppies who have begun to use aggression as a means of getting their way would be considered for the Foundation Package (3 weeks at $3600) or Behavioral Rehab where serious and repetitive behavioral issues have become established (5 weeks, $5200).
